Synthèse des discussions
Texte original · AnglaisA real-time necromancer tower-defense/auto-battler roguelite from Alawar/Amber Jam where you stitch undead minions from monster body parts, send them out to explore a procedurally generated map, and fend off enemy hordes and bosses on a timer.
Texte original · AnglaisSteam players rate it Mostly Positive (about 78% of roughly 1,500 reviews, steady in recent reviews too), and most positive reviewers frame it as a cheap, chill, silly minion-builder that is worth buying on sale for 10-25 hours. The two critic reviews on Metacritic (GameGrin 8/10, Movies Games and Tech 7/10) are friendly and stress humor, Steam Deck suitability and the fun of combining parts. Negative reviews focus on a grindy meta-progression, a steep jump in difficulty between the three maps, Titans that make normal units irrelevant, weak inventory/recipe UI, no mid-run save, and late-map FPS collapse and memory problems. Many players see it as an incremental upgrade that could almost have been a big update or DLC for Necrosmith 1. It is a released 1.0 game (Mar 27, 2024, Windows/Mac) with a developer bug-report form on Steam, but several reviewers say known bugs and performance issues have gone unfixed for months.
Ce que les joueurs apprécient
- Texte original · AnglaisBuild-a-minion loop: mixing body parts from different fantasy races and discovering secret recipes is the hook most reviewers enjoy
- Texte original · AnglaisHumor and style: sarcastic cat narrator, pop-culture/other-universe creature references, nice pixel visuals
- Texte original · AnglaisImprovements over Necrosmith 1: manual control of a single unit, pause to think mid-battle, better part sorting, area-defense orders for minions, more maps/biomes
- Texte original · AnglaisControllable Titans are a fun, pretty power fantasy and a big new mechanic
- Texte original · AnglaisArtifacts and body-part variety allow different builds and keep runs interesting
- Texte original · AnglaisChill, low-stress pacing and low PC demands; good on Steam Deck according to critics
- Texte original · AnglaisGreat value: cheap base price ($7.99) and frequent deep discounts; completionists report around 17-20 hours for 100%
Ce que les joueurs critiquent
- Texte original · AnglaisSevere performance problems in big maps: once most of a map is explored, FPS can fall to single digits or near zero and memory use balloons, sometimes making runs unplayable
- Texte original · AnglaisNo save during a run; long runs mean leaving the game open, and several players report softlocks that erase ~30 minutes of progress
- Texte original · AnglaisDifficulty and upgrade costs spike hard from map 1 to map 2 and 3, forcing repeated grinding (upgrades cited at 15,000-45,000 gold versus ~10,000 gold earned per run)
- Texte original · AnglaisBalance: Titans trivialise or dominate fights while normal units are weak against bosses, so unit design matters less than having a Titan
- Texte original · AnglaisRecipe/inventory UI is poor: no search, filter or species sorting, constantly shifting part list, and scrolling hundreds of recipes
- Texte original · AnglaisBugs and unfinished details, e.g. mislabeled abilities (two different weapons named Steam Saw), reported unfixed for months
- Texte original · AnglaisAudio: units spam loud ability sounds, with several Pharaohs making the game unbearable without muting
Caractéristiques distinctives
- Texte original · AnglaisNecromancer-simulator framing: you play the villain, reanimating monsters from parts to conquer the land
- Texte original · AnglaisFive-part minion crafting with set bonuses across fantasy races and 300+ hidden recipes, discovered by experimentation
- Texte original · AnglaisHybrid of tower defense, auto-battler, resource gathering and light management/idle elements, with a countdown timer that ends in a boss fight
- Texte original · AnglaisDirect control of one unit at a time plus area defense orders, with giant Titan units as elite constructs
- Texte original · AnglaisDay/night style exploration of a fully generated world with lairs to attack and areas to defend; three mini-worlds with story
Points qui divisent
- Texte original · AnglaisDifficulty: some players find it much more challenging than the relaxed first game and like it, others find the map-to-map jump unfair
- Texte original · AnglaisValue and scope: many call it a great cheap game, others say it should have been DLC or an update to Necrosmith 1 and that Necrosmith 1 was better
- Texte original · AnglaisTitans: praised as fun and controllable, criticised as overtuned and making normal minion crafting irrelevant
- Texte original · AnglaisLength: some like that it does not overstay its welcome (about 10 hours), others want far more content and replayability
Répétition et contraintes
- Texte original · AnglaisMandatory meta-progression grind, described as mobile-game style, with very expensive upgrades before world 3
- Texte original · AnglaisLong stretches of waiting while minions gather resources; the game can turn into an idle/clicker game
- Texte original · AnglaisCrafting becomes repetitive: pick five parts and go, and random picks work nearly as well as careful builds
- Texte original · AnglaisSecret recipes are hard to discover by trial and error and often feel underwhelming or pointless compared to artifacts; many players just look recipes up
- Texte original · AnglaisBeing one part short of a desired recipe (also noted by critics)
- Texte original · AnglaisRuns take long and cannot be paused by saving, so casual play is hard
- Texte original · AnglaisGame feels small and repetitive across its few maps
Améliorations espérées
- Texte original · AnglaisAdd a mid-run save or resume, or suspend feature
- Texte original · AnglaisOptimise performance and memory for large explored maps
- Texte original · AnglaisAdd search, filters and sorting for body parts and recipes (including show only craftable recipes)
- Texte original · AnglaisRebalance map-to-map difficulty and upgrade costs to reduce forced grinding; add a game-speed-up option
- Texte original · AnglaisRebalance Titans versus normal units and make unit composition and recipes matter more than artifact stat stacking
- Texte original · AnglaisMore maps, challenges/handicap modes, new buildings and upgrades, and more story content; some players want a sequel with more variation or multiplayer
- Texte original · AnglaisFix sound spam and mislabeled items
Texte original · AnglaisLaunched Mar 27, 2024 (Windows, Mac) at $7.99 with a free demo and a separate soundtrack. Early critic coverage (Mar-Jul 2024) was positive. Steam reception settled at Mostly Positive and has stayed there, with recent 30-day reviews around 78% too. Steam reviews posted through late 2025 and 2026 still complain about FPS drops, memory leaks, lack of saving and unfixed bugs; the community forum (about 284 topics) has threads on late-game lag, OBS issues, unreliable saves, and a pinned developer bug-report form from Amber Jam, plus a fan thread asking about Necrosmith 3. Metacritic has only 2 critic reviews and 2 user ratings, so no official Metascore or user score is shown yet (needs 4). No OpenCritic entry was found. Note: the WebSearch budget was exhausted in this session, so research relied on Steam data, Steam reviews, Metacritic, the two critic reviews, the Steam store and community pages; Reddit could not be fetched.

Texte original · AnglaisTier list Part 2 (2024)
Texte original · AnglaisNecrosmith 2 is the sequel to an auto-battling undead-army roguelite where you craft minions and let them fight on their own. He was looking forward to it because the first game had obvious quality-of-life fixes to make, and it does deliver better visuals, better AI and more mechanics such as the Titan. Overall he finds it a step down from the original. The separate small worlds and the overpowered Titan strip out the exploration, adventure and strategy he loved, and he beat the game far faster than the first one.
Ce que le créateur apprécie
- Texte original · AnglaisVisuals are improved over the first game
- Texte original · AnglaisBetter minion AI and more quality-of-life improvements
- Texte original · AnglaisMore mechanics and more things to do with the different undead
- Texte original · AnglaisTitan creation (assembling collected pieces into a huge unit) is cool and awesome to have
Problèmes relevés par le créateur
- Texte original · AnglaisLost the sense of adventure: multiple separate worlds (only three) replace one big world to push through
- Texte original · AnglaisEach world is beaten quickly; he finished the whole game in a handful of runs, about four times faster than the original
- Texte original · AnglaisStarting later worlds with powerful minions makes them feel less impactful
- Texte original · AnglaisMap is small and its outline is revealed very fast, so there is little exploration
- Texte original · AnglaisTitans are overpowered and trivialize base defense; park one at base and ignore it for ~20 minutes, reducing strategy
- Texte original · AnglaisOverall feels less free and loses the charm of the original
Observations sur la conception
- Texte original · AnglaisThe Titan mechanic: collect pieces to build a huge unit, limited to one or two
- Texte original · AnglaisDesign lesson: more systems and better AI do not compensate for removing exploration and strategic tension
- Texte original · AnglaisSeparate selectable worlds per run change the pacing versus one continuous expedition
