Synthèse des discussions

Texte original · AnglaisA vertical, digging-focused action roguelite spin-off of Shovel Knight, made by Nitrome with Yacht Club Games, where you dig down a collapsing well chased by an ever-rising buzzsaw.

Texte original · AnglaisCritics received it warmly (Metacritic PC 81 from 26 reviews, Switch reportedly 85) for tight Shovel Knight platforming, charm and Jake Kaufman's music, while Steam players are more mixed (75% of ~909 reviews, Mostly Positive) and Metacritic users land at 6.5 from only 31 ratings. The recurring split is between people who love the core movement and digging feel and people who find the roguelite layer shallow, repetitive and punishing. It is a finished, supported game rather than early access: two free DLC updates (Fate and Fortune in 2023, Wicked Wishes in 2025) plus PS5/Xbox Series ports in May 2025. Third-party estimates put Steam sales in the 20-50k owner range, which is modest, and the $24.99 price draws recurring complaints.

Ce que les joueurs apprécient

  • Texte original · AnglaisTight, responsive Shovel Knight controls; digging downward at speed feels satisfying
  • Texte original · AnglaisProcedurally generated wells still deliver handcrafted-feeling platforming challenges with hidden side rooms and Cog collectibles
  • Texte original · AnglaisJake Kaufman's chiptune soundtrack is widely praised, as are the art style and charm of the world and characters
  • Texte original · AnglaisFast, bite-sized runs that make 'one more run' easy; some players report 100+ hours
  • Texte original · AnglaisVariety of terrain and hazards across well regions, plus Knightmare difficulty modes and armors extend replay value
  • Texte original · AnglaisFree DLC (Fate and Fortune, Wicked Wishes) added content and quality-of-life improvements
  • Texte original · AnglaisCritics and fans call it a worthy, polished entry that adapts the series' moveset to a new structure

Ce que les joueurs critiquent

  • Texte original · AnglaisTiny relic/item pool and weak synergies; runs feel very similar, and you can hold only one relic
  • Texte original · AnglaisItem usefulness varies hugely; some relics are situational to a single enemy or region
  • Texte original · AnglaisEnemies constantly spawn and respawn from awkward angles, with low health and rare health upgrades, so deaths can feel cheap
  • Texte original · AnglaisPermanent progression is thin: armors carry downsides, so you rarely feel meaningfully stronger between runs
  • Texte original · AnglaisBosses are described by some as simplified compared to the original and beatable by spamming the shovel
  • Texte original · AnglaisNo mouse-button binding, and menu controls tied to gameplay rebinding, were called out as poor PC options
  • Texte original · AnglaisPrice ($24.99) seen as steep for the content; several reviewers recommend buying on sale
  • Texte original · AnglaisSome reports of softlocks and unresponsive characters on Steam forums; one user reported gem-banking problems

Caractéristiques distinctives

  • Texte original · AnglaisVertical digging roguelite where downward movement is the core verb, inspired by Downwell, Spelunky and Dig Dug
  • Texte original · AnglaisAn unstoppable buzzsaw above forces constant downward momentum instead of letting you explore slowly
  • Texte original · AnglaisRetains Shovel Knight's shovel drop and platforming toolkit adapted to randomized wells
  • Texte original · AnglaisHub camp with friendly characters, quests and unlockable areas, plus a prequel-style story set with Drill Knight and the Hexcavators
  • Texte original · AnglaisKnightmare mode and hidden fountains/secrets add optional challenge layers

Points qui divisent

  • Texte original · AnglaisWhether the roguelite structure suits Shovel Knight: fans of the original's curated levels say it loses the magic, others say it is the best spin on the formula
  • Texte original · AnglaisDifficulty and pace: pressure and cheap-feeling enemy placement read as tense to some and unfair to others
  • Texte original · AnglaisDepth: some see a simple, fun, short-session game, others an under-built roguelike with an item pool too small
  • Texte original · AnglaisValue: worth it for Shovel Knight devotees, overpriced for everyone else

Répétition et contraintes

  • Texte original · AnglaisRepeating the same set of actions and early sections after every death feels like insane tedium to critics of the loop
  • Texte original · AnglaisHub-world quests and minigames seen as busywork for replayability; the multi-step true-ending quest is considered convoluted
  • Texte original · AnglaisUnlock conditions for certain achievements and unlocks described as ridiculous
  • Texte original · AnglaisThe rising buzzsaw pressure forces rushing, which some find stressful rather than fun
  • Texte original · AnglaisFalling past items with no chance to backtrack, or into unseen hazards, frustrates players
  • Texte original · AnglaisVery high Knightmare difficulty (Knightmare 5 and up) is called out as infuriating by some long-time players, e.g. dying to unseen enemies right after a secret fountain

Améliorations espérées

  • Texte original · AnglaisMuch larger item and modifier pool with real build synergies
  • Texte original · AnglaisLet players equip newly unlocked upgrades for the next run instead of requiring a lucky drop
  • Texte original · AnglaisBetter permanent power progression so repeated runs feel cumulative
  • Texte original · AnglaisOptions to disable relic auto-swap, difficulty settings and more accessibility options
  • Texte original · AnglaisBindable mouse buttons and separate menu vs gameplay control rebinding on PC
  • Texte original · AnglaisClearer or less convoluted true-ending quest and less busywork in hub quests

Texte original · AnglaisLaunched Sept 23, 2022 on Windows, Switch, and iOS/tvOS (Apple Arcade); Yacht Club Games partnered with mobile studio Nitrome after franchise fatigue, four years of development. Free DLC Fate and Fortune (Mar 2023) added Knightmare mode and QoL; Wicked Wishes (May 2025) added more content alongside PS5 and Xbox Series X/S ports. PC is Windows only on Steam. Steam estimates: 20-50k owners (SteamSpy), about $367k gross / $108k net (Boxleiter-style estimate, order of magnitude only). Could not retrieve OpenCritic, Reddit, IGN or PCMag pages (blocked or unavailable) and the web search budget was exhausted, so community detail leans on Steam reviews and Metacritic user reviews.

Texte original · AnglaisTier list Part 1 (2023)

Texte original · AnglaisShovel Knight Dig is a platformer roguelike spin-off of the classic 2D platformer Shovel Knight. He thinks the developers did a good job with the hard problem of making platformer level design replayable. Visuals and audio are excellent, but platformers aren't his favorite genre and he struggled with the combat. Runs feel too similar and it became repetitive; he finished it twice and won't return. He places it in low B.

Ce que le créateur apprécie

  • Texte original · AnglaisGood solution to platformer replayability: one huge single room built from randomly stitched layout chunks
  • Texte original · AnglaisRandom stitching keeps levels from feeling very repetitive despite similar pieces
  • Texte original · AnglaisAmazing visuals
  • Texte original · AnglaisAmazing audio
  • Texte original · AnglaisLots of work clearly put into it; fans of Shovel Knight will likely enjoy it
  • Texte original · AnglaisSolid core gameplay

Problèmes relevés par le créateur

  • Texte original · AnglaisRuns do not feel very different from each other; core gameplay barely changes between runs
  • Texte original · AnglaisBecame fairly repetitive after a while despite the art
  • Texte original · AnglaisHe struggled with the fighting/combat aspect
  • Texte original · AnglaisPlatformer genre is not his favorite, and the random generation was not really for him

Observations sur la conception

  • Texte original · AnglaisPlatformers are like puzzles, so they resist roguelite repetition; this game sidesteps that with one long room of randomly stitched layout elements
  • Texte original · AnglaisUnique passives add some variety, but variation comes mainly from level layout rather than build
