Synthèse des discussions
Texte original · AnglaisA pixel-art tactical roguelike from Convoy Games that mixes FTL's overworld of random events with real-time, Mad Max-style vehicle combat as you cross a wasteland hunting for parts to repair your ship.
Texte original · AnglaisConvoy is received as a solid but flawed FTL-inspired indie. Steam users rate it Mostly Positive (about 78% of roughly 1,470 reviews), and critics land in the mixed-to-good range (Metacritic 72, OpenCritic top-critic average around 76). The concept and the vehicle-customisation loop are widely liked, but many reviewers and players say the moment-to-moment combat becomes repetitive and the difficulty can feel unfair, especially early ambushes. It was a 2015 PC release from Indietopia Games that later got console ports (PS4 at least); I found no sign of a sequel or recent major updates, and some recent Steam reviews ask for one. The developer's follow-up title Landinar: Into the Void is bundled with it on Steam.
Ce que les joueurs apprécient
- Texte original · AnglaisThe FTL meets Mad Max pitch is delivered faithfully; several Steam reviewers call it the only FTL-like that really feels like FTL
- Texte original · AnglaisUpgrading and customising your vehicles and mobile base gives a strong sense of progression during a run
- Texte original · AnglaisRandom radio-signal encounters can turn into combat, text dialogue or chance-based role-play, which keeps runs varied
- Texte original · AnglaisTense risk/reward decisions around fuel, repairs and whether to fight, with permadeath adding stakes
- Texte original · AnglaisRuns can be short (15 minutes) or long (2 hours), so players can tell their own hardship stories (Twinfinite)
- Texte original · AnglaisGood replay value: extra starting vehicles unlock by completing specific tasks, and harder difficulty modes exist
- Texte original · AnglaisControls are easy to learn; a new player has the concepts down after a game or two (Game Informer)
- Texte original · AnglaisA 'chill' run-after-run feel that long-time players return to years later, often pairing it with FTL
- Texte original · AnglaisFits its $14.99 price point; Steam reviewers call it simple but lots of fun
Ce que les joueurs critiquent
- Texte original · AnglaisCombat is the core loop and repeats so much that critics call it a slog or chore (Game Informer, Critical Hit, Gamers FTW)
- Texte original · AnglaisSome critics say there is little real tactics beyond focus-firing and attrition, and that it lacks FTL's depth (Riot Pixels scored it 40)
- Texte original · AnglaisEarly game can feel brutally unfair: enemies outnumber you, hit hard, and ambushes appear suddenly and wipe out vehicles
- Texte original · AnglaisVisuals and music get called threadbare, uninspired or repetitive, and the soundtrack wears out its welcome
- Texte original · AnglaisStory and world-building are thin or annoying; narrative ambitions go unfulfilled (Games.cz)
- Texte original · AnglaisQuality-of-life gaps and the odd bug; one mistake can ruin an entire run
- Texte original · AnglaisConsole ports suffer from controls that are too slow for commanding several vehicles and from a cluttered UI with hard-to-read fonts
Caractéristiques distinctives
- Texte original · AnglaisReal-time vehicle combat as a high-speed car chase, where you position units and use abilities, rather than FTL-style ship system management
- Texte original · AnglaisA central mobile command vehicle that cannot move from the middle of the screen and soaks up damage each fight
- Texte original · AnglaisThree competing factions that grow in strength over the run, forcing adaptation
- Texte original · AnglaisA procedurally generated planet with different objectives, events and consequences each playthrough
- Texte original · AnglaisTactical pause plus radio-signal encounters that branch into combat, dialogue or chance-based role-play
- Texte original · AnglaisSteam Workshop support exists, though Steam reviewers note there are very few mods
Points qui divisent
- Texte original · AnglaisDifficulty: some love the challenge on harder modes, others call it janky and too hard from the start (Steam threads suggest starting on Easy and getting a third vehicle early)
- Texte original · AnglaisDepth vs repetition: some call it a satisfying roguelike and the only true FTL-like, others say it lacks tactics and depth compared with FTL
- Texte original · AnglaisMetacritic user score is much lower (5.3 from 34 ratings) than critics (72) and Steam (Mostly Positive)
- Texte original · AnglaisPixel art and soundtrack are charming to some and bland or repetitive to others
Répétition et contraintes
- Texte original · AnglaisFights are long and similar, so many players report the game getting boring quickly
- Texte original · AnglaisFuel drains most of the money early, and backtracking across the wasteland is punished
- Texte original · AnglaisRepeated early losses: players report dying in the first ambush or first side mission and quitting
- Texte original · AnglaisRepair costs and losing vehicles can snowball into a dead run, which players say does not respect their time
- Texte original · AnglaisShop and menu handling on controller takes too many button presses
Améliorations espérées
- Texte original · AnglaisMore variety in encounters and enemy types so fights stop feeling like the same exchange
- Texte original · AnglaisDeeper tactical options beyond positioning and focus fire, including more useful abilities and customisation
- Texte original · AnglaisSmoother onboarding and a fairer early game, with better warning of or counterplay to ambushes
- Texte original · AnglaisQuality-of-life fixes such as scrollable objective text, seeing details of unaffordable shop items, and fewer button presses in the shop on controller
- Texte original · AnglaisStronger story and world-building payoff, plus more polished art and audio
- Texte original · AnglaisAn update or sequel; recent positive and negative Steam reviews both ask for more support
Texte original · AnglaisLaunched April 21, 2015 on PC (Windows, Mac, Linux) via Indietopia Games at $14.99. Critic reaction was mixed to positive with the recurring repetition complaint; Metacritic lists 17 critic reviews (7 positive, 9 mixed, 1 negative), while OpenCritic shows only 38% of critics recommending it despite a mid-70s average. Steam sits at Mostly Positive, and estimates suggest 200k-500k owners and roughly $599k gross revenue (Boxleiter-style estimate, treat as order-of-magnitude). It later came to consoles; PS4 reviewers liked the game but found the controller scheme clumsy and recommended the PC version. The game has Steam Workshop support. I found no evidence of ongoing development, and recent Steam reviews (as late as 2026) are still asking for an update or sequel.

Texte original · AnglaisTier list Part 1 (2023)
Texte original · AnglaisConvoy is a real-time strategy roguelike in the FTL mold, where you lead a vehicle convoy across a big world scavenging parts and items so your ship can leave the planet. He finds the genre mix unique and respects it, but the moment-to-moment play has little strategy early on and the overworld feels empty. He beat it once, found it fun, and would rather play FTL. He would revisit it once or twice since it is quick to pick up, and settles on high C, possibly edging toward low B.
Ce que le créateur apprécie
- Texte original · AnglaisReal-time strategy plus roguelike structure is fairly unique and few games do it
- Texte original · AnglaisThe genre itself is distinctive and he respects the attempt
- Texte original · AnglaisEasy to play quickly in short sessions
- Texte original · AnglaisUnlockable starting layouts add some variety over time
- Texte original · AnglaisStrategy becomes meaningful in the late game
Problèmes relevés par le créateur
- Texte original · AnglaisLittle strategy in combat; mostly click a spot and have vehicles shoot
- Texte original · AnglaisFirst ~15 minutes of every run is repetitive because you always start nearly the same
- Texte original · AnglaisOutside world is boring, lonely and empty
- Texte original · AnglaisExploration events and signals are not very engaging
- Texte original · AnglaisLate-game strategy takes a long time to arrive
Observations sur la conception
- Texte original · AnglaisReal-time convoy defence and scavenging as an FTL-style roguelike twist
- Texte original · AnglaisNot heavy on persistent upgrades, so nothing to remember between runs and easy to drop in
