Synthèse des discussions
Texte original · AnglaisA satirical action roguelite from Aggro Crab (published by Team17) where an unpaid intern fights through dungeons built from failed tech startups, using office junk as breakable weapons.
Texte original · AnglaisPlayers rate it Very Positive on Steam (about 90% of roughly 4,175 reviews) and critics were mostly favourable (Metacritic PC 78 from 11 reviews). Almost everyone agrees the art direction, writing and corporate-satire theming are the main draw. The action roguelite gameplay is the weak point: many reviews call the combat sluggish, shallow or janky, and the content thin. Commercially it underperformed: Wikipedia says Aggro Crab cancelled a planned extra dungeon because of poor base game sales. It is a complete, 2020-released game with a post-launch 'Working from Home' update, it is frequently discounted to around $2, and a recommend-on-sale verdict is common even among lukewarm reviewers.
Ce que les joueurs apprécient
- Texte original · AnglaisSharp, funny satire of startup and gig-economy culture; several reviewers say it has aged well and will trigger flashbacks for anyone who worked at a startup
- Texte original · AnglaisDistinctive art direction that turns corporate clip-art/Memphis-style design into something charming rather than soulless, plus a solid soundtrack
- Texte original · AnglaisCharming, archetypal cast and witty dialogue; talking to coworkers between runs is a highlight
- Texte original · AnglaisEverything-is-a-weapon system: you pick up desks, office supplies and more to swing, throw or shoot, with a varied weapon pool
- Texte original · AnglaisGenerous accessibility and difficulty options: an Assist mode and difficulty changes at any time without disabling achievements
- Texte original · AnglaisChoose-your-starting-item mechanic avoids runs ruined by a bad first pickup
- Texte original · AnglaisGood length that does not overstay its welcome (roughly 10 hours for a casual clear) and runs well, including on Steam Deck
- Texte original · AnglaisBoss fights and enemy/dungeon theming (three themed dungeons) praised as creative
Ce que les joueurs critiquent
- Texte original · AnglaisCombat described as floaty, sluggish and clunky: commitment to attack animations, slow dodges, imprecise hits, and enemies able to stun-lock you
- Texte original · AnglaisCluttered, cramped rooms and exploding traps can make damage feel unfair rather than hard, with off-screen enemies hard to spot
- Texte original · AnglaisThin content: only three dungeons, and the second half replays them in a hard mode, so many feel they saw everything in the first section
- Texte original · AnglaisWeapon durability means weapons break every few fights, which some find tedious rather than fun, and shields on many enemies make this worse late game
- Texte original · AnglaisHumour leans on dated memes and references for some reviewers, and characters lack depth
- Texte original · AnglaisFinal boss and late game spikes are called out as frustrating or unfair
- Texte original · AnglaisKeyboard support is poor: controls cannot be rebound, and the weapon-switch keys are awkward; it plays best on controller
- Texte original · AnglaisProgression and unlocks feel unimpactful; runs feel samey and skill descriptions are unclear
- Texte original · AnglaisSluggish, poorly optimized menus; one top negative review also says known bugs were never patched
Caractéristiques distinctives
- Texte original · AnglaisDungeons are the ruins of failed tech startups, each themed on a parody of a startup archetype
- Texte original · AnglaisBreakable office-supply and furniture weapons you can also throw, instead of a fixed weapon loadout
- Texte original · AnglaisMentor and coworker bonding system that unlocks abilities, tied into the narrative
- Texte original · AnglaisCorporate clip-art aesthetic with a mix of 2D and 3D art and gibberish-style voice work
- Texte original · AnglaisNarrative-first roguelite where the satire drives the structure, and the ending is widely praised by fans
- Texte original · AnglaisAssist and difficulty toggles that can be changed mid-game without penalty
Points qui divisent
- Texte original · AnglaisThe humour and writing: many find it the best part, a minority find it dated, meme-heavy or unfunny
- Texte original · AnglaisCombat feel and difficulty: some call it light and accessible, others call it janky or unfair, with Assist mode the usual recommended fix
- Texte original · AnglaisWhether the game is a worthwhile roguelite or mostly a narrative/satire experience: several positive reviewers say it is for people who want the theme, not the mechanics
- Texte original · AnglaisArt style: praised as distinctive, but a few find it fuzzy or hard to read
Répétition et contraintes
- Texte original · AnglaisLong menu and loading sequence between death and the next run
- Texte original · AnglaisConstant weapon breakage and needing to spend scarce cash on food and healing in shops
- Texte original · AnglaisRepetition: hard mode repeats the same three dungeons, and runs feel similar
- Texte original · AnglaisGrinding for unlocks, with many skills described as pointless or unclear, which some players only finish by beating the game before unlocking everything
- Texte original · AnglaisDodge and stun-lock frustration when crowds of enemies or explosions pile on in tight rooms
- Texte original · AnglaisSlow animations combined with imprecise weapons make fights feel like work
Améliorations espérées
- Texte original · AnglaisAdd rebindable controls and better keyboard/mouse defaults, including an option to stop auto-pickup on dodge
- Texte original · AnglaisSpeed up the post-run flow: multiple menus and loads before you can restart a run are a frequent complaint
- Texte original · AnglaisTune combat: more responsive attacks and dodges, clearer enemy telegraphs, less unavoidable off-screen damage
- Texte original · AnglaisMore content and variety: a fourth or fifth dungeon (the cancelled extra dungeon is the obvious gap) and less copy-paste in the hard-mode half
- Texte original · AnglaisClearer perk and skill descriptions and more meaningful unlocks
- Texte original · AnglaisCamera improvements, or a locked isometric-style view, so furniture and walls do not hide threats
Texte original · AnglaisLaunched September 24, 2020 on PC, Switch, PS4 and Xbox One, with physical editions for Switch and PS4 from Limited Run Games. Critics were mostly favourable, with platform Metacritic scores ranging 73 to 81, praising the satire and weapon variety, while a minority such as TheGamer (2.5/5) found the combat repetitive versus Dead Cells or Hades. Post-launch the 'Working from Home' update added weapons and a hard mode, but a planned additional dungeon was cancelled because of weak base sales. Steam lists it at about $2.49 at time of data collection, with estimated 200k to 500k owners and roughly $1.8M gross (Boxleiter-style estimate, order of magnitude only). Recent Steam reviews in 2025 to 2026 remain positive, with some players finding it via Game Pass or sales. Steam is Windows only. OpenCritic score could not be retrieved because the web search budget was exhausted and direct page fetches failed.

Texte original · AnglaisTier list Part 1 (2023)
Texte original · AnglaisGoing Under is an action dungeon crawler roguelite with a heavy story focus, set in a corporate workplace where you play an intern. Its signature gimmick is that you can pick up almost any object in a room and use it as a weapon. He loves the art, music and humor and had a blast, but sees it as a one-and-done campaign with little reason to return after the story ends. He mentions some bugginess. Overall he recommends it and places it at the high end of B.
Ce que le créateur apprécie
- Texte original · AnglaisAmazing art style and great music
- Texte original · AnglaisStory, NPCs and character relationships are a big draw
- Texte original · AnglaisVery goofy and genuinely funny humor
- Texte original · AnglaisGrab-anything-as-a-weapon gimmick (tables, computers, keyboards)
- Texte original · AnglaisFun endgame with a unique and cool final boss
- Texte original · AnglaisOverall a fun, good game he would recommend
Problèmes relevés par le créateur
- Texte original · AnglaisCampaign-style roguelite with little reason to return once the story is finished
- Texte original · AnglaisHas a separate roguelite mode outside the story, but it does not pull him back
- Texte original · AnglaisSomewhat buggy (he went out of bounds on stream and broke things), though still enjoyable
Observations sur la conception
- Texte original · AnglaisAny object in the room can be used as a weapon, so no dedicated weapon is needed
- Texte original · AnglaisStory-driven intern-in-a-corporation setting with a distinctive final boss
