Best Action Roguelikes, Ranked
For players who want movement, attacks and reactions to matter alongside their build. This list includes every published review tagged action combat in our catalog, ordered by the same score used on the main leaderboard.
Reviewed games, ranked
Only published, complete five-dimension reviews qualify. Scores and global ranks come directly from the full rankings; equal displayed scores retain their shared rank. These are site scores out of 100, not user votes or similarity scores.

Pick your kind of action
Hades and its sequel focus on combat through mythological settings. Dead Cells combines combat with 2D platforming, while Noita centers its action on spells and a physically simulated world. The action label groups these games by active execution, not by camera angle or an identical run structure.
Use the category labels beside each game to narrow the choice. Platformer points toward movement through side-scrolling spaces; shooter puts ranged combat in the foreground; co-op identifies games recorded in that category, but the store page remains the source for the exact player count and modes.
Read beyond the overall score
A high core-gameplay score is not a promise that a game matches your preferred pace or difficulty. Open the review to compare builds, fairness and usability as well. The total uses the same weights as every other genre, so action games do not receive an extra bonus for fast combat.
If the draw is specifically Hades, use the dedicated comparison below. It separates the shared action loop from differences such as platforming, spells and co-op.
Frequently asked questions
Are all shooters included?
Only games tagged action combat in this catalog appear here. A shooter may be filed under shooter without the action tag, so this is a category view of our reviewed records, not an exhaustive definition of action games.
Do I need fast reflexes for every pick?
The action tag is too broad to answer that. Compare the game description and review, and check the developer’s information for difficulty and accessibility options. We have not independently playtested those options.
How are these games scored?
Core gameplay and builds each carry 25%; replayability and randomness/fairness each carry 20%; polish carries 10%. Only complete published reviews enter the rankings. The initial ratings use AI-assisted source research, not hands-on playtesting, and external review scores are kept separate.
Sources and scope
Game mechanics are paraphrased from publisher descriptions. Recommendations about fit are our interpretation. Scores and review evidence are linked separately in the comparison; current availability and features should be checked with the developer.
